Talks with Sierra Plowden and Charan Andreas
Charan: So Sierra… Is it true that you live on a private tropical island?
Sierra: Only in my dreams. But I’m looking forward to making that happen in the future. Oh yeah? Then which island would it be? Oh, somewhere in Hawaii. Somewhere in Hawaii? You don’t have a specific island in mind? Well I haven’t been to Kauai or the big islands so I can’t speak for those… but Bora Bora would be on the list for sure. More like Bora-Boring. Haha, shut up!
Charan: Alright so how do the beaches in LA compare to the ones in Hawaii?
Sierra: They don’t. But, I have to say Malibu is such a special place in my heart. There’s nothing like sun life and sunshine and being with my friends… And I grew up there, so yeah, Malibu is special. So you prefer Malibu over Hawaii? Not over Hawaii. But it does compete, for sure.
Charan: OK, so as a British aristocrat, how hard is it to get up in the morning?
Sierra: I don’t, haha. I mean it depends. Probably I’m up in the morning because I’ve been up all night. I love watching the sunrise, but it depends how late I’ve been reading. You go to sleep when the sun comes up? You watch it rise and then go to bed? Yeah! So when do you wake up? Oh, before the sunset, so I get the best parts of the day. Ah, so you can see the sunrise and the sunset? Yeah.
Charan: What was the last thing you’ve eaten… off a human body?
Sierra: Uhh probably ketchup off my hand from truffle fries. No it can’t be your own body, it has to be someone else’s. Can’t be MY body? Um, probably…. Whipped cream off some nipples? Haha no, no. I was gonna say my friend Sophia an me had Erewhon the other time I was with her and I think that probably happened. Yeah, we were like eating with our fingers. Maybe you did, like, a wheatgrass body shot from Erewhon? Haha yeah!
Charan: So what’s your favorite 90’s jam?
Sierra: Nirvana. Is my favorite band. Of all time. Nirvana? Yeah, enough said. OK ‘cause I wasn’t sure if you were born in ‘99 or 2000… Shut up. No I was born in ‘95 OK? November 13th 1995. Ayyy! Alright. That’s my birthday. Scorpio.
Charan: We heard you’re a very smart blonde and we wanted to see if you could answer a general knowledge question…
Sierra: OK, I’m ready. Anatidaephobia is the fear of what? A – Fear of the sun, B – Fear of buttons, C – Fear of green vegetables, or D – Fear of Anna to Die? Is it fear of Anna to die? It’s actually the fear, that uh, somehow a duck is watching you. Haha! Oh, nice. But you had ducks… Yeah, I raised four ducks. I work with a rescue organization called Whiskers & Tails and I rescued four ducklings and raised them from when they were babies and I love them to death! And I’m actually now a proud duck Grandma. They just gave birth to two baby ducks. So now I have six ducks. Wow, Granny Duck. Yeah, I saw on your Instagram, you were like, taking bubble baths with them and stuff. Well not bubble baths, but yeah, when they were babies it was important that they imprint on you. So as the mom, skin-to-skin contact is really important. So I would have them on my chest and they would sleep with me, I miss them so much. You should get little duck tattoos down your leg. Haha, I don’t know about that.
Charan: Um, let’s see. Do you think the LA nightlife is special in any way? And why?
Sierra: Of course, yeah. I mean that’s the easy question, of course it is. It’s beyond special to me. But why is kind of like that hard part. There’s not really enough words to describe… I mean, it’s not just ‘cause I’m from here, I mean I’ve been going out since 2011. How old were you?! Haha, born in ‘95… so I started a little early but, yeah, it’s always getting better. We have such an abundance of entertainment here. Beautiful people. Everybody, I mean all of our friends are creative, super-talented. I mean, we’re pretty blessed with our circle but yeah… God, why IS it so special? I mean, you’d have to come to LA to find out.
Charan: How was it going out at 16? See I can do math.
Sierra: Haha, it was good. It was really, really good. I’m not gonna lie, there was a couple nights at 1 OAK where I’d come home and have to finish my homework. Ooh 1 OAK’s in trouble now. No, but LA’s really special. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched the sunrise from these hills and just felt completely sublime… At some random celebrity’s house? No, no! Yeahhh, chillin’ at Leo’s pool watching the sunrise. The firepit, but no, I was just gonna say there’s nothing like that. Spending time with your really good friends, smoking that last cigarette, watching the sunrise… That last joint. Haha, that too. But there’s nothing like that, it’s so special to me, wrapping up a beautiful night with people you care about, good music.
Exposures: So Sierra, how old were you when you met Ty Joseph?
Sierra: I think I was 15 years old when I met Ty.
Charan: So this was before you going out? Ty corrupted you to go out? ‘Cause you were 16 when you started going out.
Sierra: No! Not at all! Ty was just the nicest guy. That’s my blonde friend, we love each other. He’s awesome. I was actually struck by how polite Ty was. And he had this mannerism about him, kind of like this glow, ya know what I mean? And I vibe with that, ‘cause we’re both like that. We both have really strong personalities too.
Charan: And is it true people mistake you as twins all the time?
Sierra: No! Not at all.
Charan: So who is the person that you most want to meet that you haven’t?
Sierra: Jane Goodall for sure. She’s my biggest idol. I love her so much. Everything she’s done, all her work. I mean, I can’t wait to meet her. I WILL meet her one day, I’m just waiting for that. And she’s a racecar driver, right? Haha, no. She saves animals. And you know that I’m vegan. Right. I saw the documentary. Yeah of course. She’s a huge inspiration to me. Of course, as a vegan, I love animals. And I love Jane Goodall, she’s amazing. Yeah, she’s pretty awesome.
Charan: Who is the most inspiring person you’ve ever met in LA?
Sierra: Wow, that’s a really good question. You can’t say Ty. I can’t say Ty? Umm, I’m inspired by you! By me? Yeah! You’re such an inspiration, are you kidding me? You’re the most upbeat, positive person everytime I’m with you. I’ll say you, yeah, Charan. You’re awesome! (High-five) OK, thank you. I love you!
Charan: Alright, last question. So you’re vegan/vegetarian like you said…
Sierra: Yeah, fully vegan. OK, so when did you make that commitment and why? So that was about two and a half years ago. I was in Germany. And it’s something I’ve been wanting to do a long time… In Germany? I know, yeah. ‘Cause you didn’t like the sausages there? No, no. I did not have doner. I had VEGAN doner. Vegan kebob, vegan doner, it was really good. I wanted to make that commitment for such a long time, it was my New Years Resolution and I finally did it, and I’m so glad that I did it. I’m not gonna lie, it was hard, and I did slip up once in Paris, I had a Nutella crepe. So it was like, the egg? That’s a minor slip-up. Yeah and the milk-powder in the Nutella. But that’s not important. What was important to me is that I started it, and I did have a couple slip-ups in the beginning but as I started studying nutrition and the ethics behind it and just seeing the videos and how it can affect the world, ya know. Huge environmental impact. It’s everything to me. Yeah it’s important. And with those Impossible Burgers now, I mean… Oh my god, the Truffle Burger from Umami is my guilty pleasure. Is that the one? Yeah that’s the one. Well I’m excited, I’ll have to try it. Yeah, we’ll go get some later.
